The legal friction follows Seaver’s abrupt termination from his role overseeing the singer’s properties, an event occurring shortly after he publicly announced her death in August. The estate has since obtained a temporary restraining order against him, alleging he issued threats involving weapons and violence. Court filings claim Seaver threatened to damage Parton’s brand partnerships via a podcast unless he received payment, a charge he vehemently rejects.
Seaver, a military contractor, maintains that his messages were private, emotional exchanges with a former associate rather than actionable threats. He argues that his comments were directed at third-party business partners he believes mistreated Parton, not the estate itself. As the court weighs his request for a ten-day extension, the restraining order remains in effect, prohibiting him and his security firm, Squadron Augmented Protection Services, from approaching estate staff or business partners.
