Former Body Shop Owner Patents Paint-Mixing Device

After fourteen years of running a body shop, a Lawton, Michigan inventor has developed a solution to the persistent problem of uneven pigment distribution. His patent-pending device, dubbed The Shaker, aims to automate the vigorous mixing process required to keep industrial and automotive paints at optimal consistency.

The invention focuses on mechanical efficiency to mitigate common shop frustrations, such as clogged spray tips and valve failures caused by improperly mixed materials. By ensuring a consistent blend, the device minimizes product waste and reduces the manual labor traditionally required to prepare paint cans. Its adjustable, durable frame is designed to accommodate various container sizes, targeting both professional body shop technicians and independent painters.

Currently, the design is being managed by InventHelp, which is actively seeking licensing agreements or outright sales to manufacturing firms. Interested parties can access a functional prototype and technical documentation through the company’s Pittsburgh headquarters. The project, identified as KSG-235, represents a practical pivot from hands-on shop floor experience to hardware development.
