Russell's Reserve Debuts Rye-Forward Single Rickhouse Bourbon

Rising to a peak elevation at the Camp Nelson campus, the historic Rickhouse D has yielded the fifth entry in the Russell's Reserve Single Rickhouse Collection. This 2026 release defies traditional bourbon profiles, delivering an unexpected, spice-heavy character that mimics the complexity of a rye whiskey.

Master Distiller Eddie Russell, currently marking his 45th year with Wild Turkey Distilling Co., selected barrels from floors one, three, four, five, and six of the 1946-built structure. The site’s isolated, west-facing position creates a unique microclimate of consistent airflow, which Russell credits for the spirit's unconventional outcome. By pulling from the first floor—a level typically bypassed in premium selections—he captured an earthy base that anchors the final blend's bold spice notes.

Bottled at 120.8 proof and non-chill filtered, the whiskey presents a profile defined by baked fruit, apple, and vanilla, transitioning into a finish of cinnamon, pepper, and oak. The result stands as a testament to the influence of maturation environments on consistent recipes. The limited-run bourbon is available at a suggested retail price of $300 per 750mL bottle through select U.S. retailers and the Wild Turkey Distillery Visitor Center.
