Pixi Reclaims Glowtober with Its Original 5% Glycolic Acid Tonic

Pixi Reclaims Glowtober with Its Original 5% Glycolic Acid Tonic

Eight out of ten users report a reduction in visible blemishes after using Pixi’s signature Glow Tonic, according to a recent 30-day consumer study. As the brand leans into its "Glowtober" campaign, the focus returns to the 1999 formula that pioneered the now-ubiquitous acid toner category for daily skincare routines.

Since its inception by makeup artist Petra Strand, the alcohol-free toner has relied on a blend of 5% glycolic acid, aloe vera, and ginseng to exfoliate and revitalize the skin. The product remains a staple for addressing dullness and uneven texture, with 82% of study participants noting a more balanced skin tone after consistent application. Strand intended the tonic to serve as a gentle yet effective daily step, bridging the gap between clinical-strength exfoliation and skin-soothing care.

Applying the tonic requires sweeping a saturated cotton pad across the face, neck, and décolletage after cleansing, followed by standard moisturizing and SPF protection. While suitable for most skin types, including oily and combination, the brand recommends that those new to acid-based products begin with a frequency of two to three times per week. The 250ml bottle, priced at $29 or £22, is available through Pixi’s digital storefront, London and Los Angeles boutiques, and global retail partners.
