Latitude Air Ambulance Remembers Crew of Lost Heartbeat 104

The U.S. Coast Guard has confirmed the names of the six individuals aboard Heartbeat 104, an air ambulance flight that disappeared during a medical evacuation from Bermuda to Boston. With search efforts suspended, Latitude Air Ambulance has acknowledged the loss of its four crew members, alongside a patient and family escort.

Peter Byl, president of Latitude Air Ambulance, honored the victims not as statistics, but as dedicated professionals and friends. The crew included Captain Philip Childerhose, known for his integrity and passion for aviation, and First Officer Thomas Farquhar, a pilot remembered by colleagues for his gentle nature. The medical team comprised flight nurse Sarah Paton, celebrated for her joyful spirit, and respiratory therapist Jolene Weir, who viewed her role at the company as a lifelong dream.

These four individuals were performing a medical evacuation when the aircraft was lost. Latitude has expressed its condolences to the families of the patient and the escort accompanying them. As the aviation community mourns, the company is cooperating with the Transportation Safety Board of Canada and the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board. Investigators are currently working to determine the cause of the accident, a process the company emphasized requires patience and precision. Latitude officials have requested privacy for the grieving families while the formal investigation proceeds.
