University of Phoenix Unveils Locked-In Pricing for New Students

Starting November 2, 2026, the University of Phoenix will implement a new pricing model that guarantees a single, fixed cost per course for new students through graduation. This strategy consolidates tuition and resource fees into one predictable figure, aiming to eliminate the financial ambiguity often associated with higher education expenses.

The shift arrives as the institution adjusts its pricing structure, with new student tuition set to rise by 7% and resource fees by $10 per course. While these changes take effect in November, currently enrolled students will remain under the existing tuition guarantee, though they will see the same $10 increase in resource fees. University President Chris Lynne stated that the move is designed to provide working adults with the financial clarity necessary to plan their education without unexpected cost hikes.

Beyond simple pricing, the updated resource fees cover a suite of digital tools, including Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Copilot. Provost John Woods noted that integrating these AI resources directly into the curriculum is a response to evolving employer expectations. The university is simultaneously emphasizing pathways to degree completion, highlighting that students have saved an estimated $3 billion over the last eight years by leveraging transfer credits and prior learning assessments to reduce total course requirements.
