HAI Solutions Secures Patent for AI-Integrated IV Connector Tech

The United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued U.S. Patent 12,714,760 to Carlsbad-based HAI Solutions, formalizing the company’s integration of RFID technology into its QIKcap platform. This move marks a pivot toward AI-enabled oversight for needle-free IV connector sterilization, aiming to standardize clinical care across hospital departments.

The patent, granted on August 25, 2026, secures the intellectual property for a sterilization device that assigns a distinct digital identity to every IV connector. By pairing this RFID-enabled hardware with an AI-driven platform, HAI Solutions intends to automate compliance tracking and reduce manual friction for nursing staff. The system is designed to provide real-time visibility into connector maintenance within high-acuity settings, including the ICU, operating rooms, and emergency departments.

Chief Executive Officer Nicholas Perrenoud stated that the technology seeks to eliminate variability between shifts and ensure consistent connector care at the bedside. Following the company's previous FDA De Novo clearance for the QIKcap system, this patent serves as a foundation for the platform's upcoming commercial rollout. HAI Solutions has scheduled the official market launch for February 2027 and is currently accepting pre-orders for the device.
