IDEMIA WebCapture SDK passes independent deepfake defense audit

Zero successful breaches occurred during 900 simulated attacks against IDEMIA Public Security’s WebCapture SDK. The independent assessment by BixeLab verified that the software successfully blocks sophisticated biometric threats, including deepfakes, face swaps, and replay attacks, while maintaining a false rejection rate of 0.67% for legitimate users.

The evaluation, conducted by the testing firm BixeLab, focused on the software's ability to resist injection attacks where malicious actors attempt to feed fake biometric data into identity verification streams. The system successfully neutralized 10 distinct categories of threats, including avatar reenactment and morphing techniques. By achieving the CEN/TS 18099 Substantial-level validation, the SDK v3.38 confirms its readiness for high-security environments where synthetic identity fraud poses a constant risk.

Beyond defensive capabilities, the performance data highlights a balance between security and user accessibility. In a baseline test of 300 genuine transactions, the system recorded only two classification errors. According to Ted Dunstone, CEO of BixeLab, independent testing against recognized standards like CEN/TS 18099 serves as a critical benchmark for organizations tasked with protecting digital identities against evolving AI-driven impersonation tactics. Virginie Flam, SVP of Smart Biometrics at IDEMIA, noted that this validation provides the necessary assurance for agencies and enterprises to deploy biometric solutions without compromising the experience for authentic users.
