Volley Automation Scales Robotic Parking Systems Beyond U.S. Borders

Robotic parking developer Volley has secured its first international design contract in Montreal, marking a strategic shift as the Denver-based firm accelerates its global footprint. The expansion coincides with a broader real-estate industry pivot toward automated infrastructure to offset surging construction costs and maximize urban density.

The company’s growth trajectory is underscored by eight active design service agreements, including new commitments in San Francisco. This uptick in demand aligns with data from a 2026 UCLA analysis, which highlights that parking construction expenses have outpaced general inflation by 50% since 2012. Developers are increasingly turning to automated guided vehicles and proprietary software to mitigate these economic pressures while maintaining tenant amenities.

To manage this scaling phase, Volley has appointed Ian Goudy as Chief Operating Officer, bringing the total staff to 21. Goudy joins the leadership team as the company finalizes its 30,000-square-foot demonstration hub in Denver, slated for completion by early 2027. This facility will showcase the technology currently being integrated into Manhattan residential developments, including 38 Gramercy Park East and 550 West 21st Street. CEO Sam Richardson noted that the firm is prioritizing operational scale to meet the heightened demand for its robotic systems, which aim to reduce construction complexity and embodied carbon in modern built environments.
