Plastic Ingenuity took the honors in the Packaging (re)Design category for its ready-to-use tub platform. By utilizing recycled PuraForm 134 polyester alongside Tyvek, the company reduced plastic usage by 15 percent and prevented 217 metric tons of CO2e for every million units produced. Meanwhile, Coligroup Spa earned the Operational Efficiencies award by streamlining suture packaging. Their design eliminated an entire material layer while maintaining sterility, resulting in a 35 percent reduction in overall production costs.
Nelipak Healthcare Packaging secured the Sustainability In-Use category with its Ecovate headerbags. This innovation replaces traditional mixed-material laminates with a mono-material polyethylene structure, which is certified recyclable and offers a potential 40 percent decrease in greenhouse gas emissions. Lesley Aulick, global business director for DuPont Tyvek Roll Goods, noted that these wins underscore the effectiveness of scalable material design in supporting both circular economy goals and patient safety standards.
