The agreement covers the full manufacturing spectrum, ranging from partial assembly of components to complete cell production. By leveraging the 92,000-square-foot Indianapolis facility, Amprius intends to scale its output rapidly while minimizing capital expenditure. The site is equipped for end-to-end production, including slurry mixing, electrode coating, and automated cell formation, ensuring compliance with NDAA Section 842 requirements for defense-related projects.
Adrian Yao, CEO of CAMINUS, noted that the deal addresses a significant bottleneck in Western battery supply chains by pairing advanced silicon-anode designs with established manufacturing infrastructure. Qualification builds are currently underway at the Indiana site. For Amprius, the collaboration provides a vital pathway to fulfill demand for mission-critical power systems without the long lead times associated with building proprietary, large-scale manufacturing plants from the ground up.
