LatinFinance Honors Record-Breaking Infrastructure Deals in New York

More than 300 investors, lenders, and public officials gathered at The Pierre on Thursday for the 2026 Project & Infrastructure Finance Awards. The record-setting attendance marks a historic high for the event, underscoring a deepening appetite for energy and infrastructure investment across Latin America and the Caribbean.

The awards recognized a diverse array of transactions, ranging from renewable energy portfolios to data centers and urban transit systems. Atlas Renewable Energy secured the Project Sponsor of the Year title for the second consecutive year, bolstered by a $3 billion refinancing of solar and battery storage assets. Santander CIB retained its position as Infrastructure Bank of the Year for Latin America, marking its fourth consecutive win while also claiming the Mexico bank award for its work on the Cablebús green bond and the acquisition of Iberdrola México.

LatinFinance CEO Taimur Ahmad noted that the primary hurdle for the region is not a lack of capital, but the complexity of transforming regional projects into bankable deals. The ceremony followed the 2026 LAC Energy, Infrastructure & Sustainable Finance Roundtable, where policymakers and executives discussed the impact of nearshoring on power demand and the financing of Brazil’s energy transition. The winning transactions, selected by the publication's editors, reflect a 12-month period of activity ending May 31, 2026. Detailed coverage of the recipients is available in the Q4 2026 edition of LatinFinance magazine.
