Spanning 28.6 hectares, the site leverages Salo’s strategic proximity to Helsinki and its access to a specialized technical talent pool. The project, supported by a connection to the Fingrid substation, is designed to integrate into the local energy landscape. Beyond hosting servers, the company intends to implement heat reuse systems and long-term power purchase agreements, mirroring circular economy models the firm has already established in Sweden and Denmark.
CEO Eyjólfur Magnús Kristinsson noted that the development is intended to function as a collaborative utility, providing flexibility solutions to the regional grid. Local officials view the arrival of the facility as a catalyst for economic growth, anticipating significant job creation throughout the construction phase and long-term operations. The Salo site joins a growing portfolio of atNorth projects across the Nordics, including major active developments in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.
