In a recent interview with The Guardian, Boyega confirmed he opted for a small, private ceremony rather than the elaborate traditional Nigerian wedding many might expect. He signaled that a larger celebration may come later, joking that he would eventually need to "shut Nigeria down" for the festivities. Beyond his marriage, the actor expressed deep contentment with his evolving family dynamic, noting that he is also a parent to a young stepson. "My life is completely fulfilled in terms of family," he said, explaining that this shift in priorities is the primary reason he has actively de-centered his career from the spotlight.
This introspective turn coincides with a public return to the most painful memory of his youth. In a forthcoming BBC Two documentary, Boyega revisits the 2000 murder of his childhood friend Damilola Taylor in South London. Boyega, who was one of the last people to see the 10-year-old alive, admitted that speaking about the tragedy is a difficult but necessary step. He stated that his experiences as a survivor of that trauma now inform his approach to fatherhood, where he aims to remain present, consistent, and supportive as he raises his own children.
