ABK Biomedical Breaks Ground on Ashland Manufacturing Hub

Governor Mike Kehoe joined corporate and academic leaders in Ashland, Missouri, on October 2 to break ground on a new manufacturing facility for ABK Biomedical. The site at Cartwright Business Park will serve as the primary production hub for Eye90 microspheres, a specialized device designed to treat liver cancer patients globally.

The project represents a long-standing collaboration between the company, the University of Missouri, and the MU Research Reactor, which will serve as the facility's primary irradiation partner. By situating the plant near the university, ABK Biomedical aims to bridge the gap between clinical research and commercial-scale production. Construction is slated for completion in 2027, with full commissioning expected to follow in 2028.

President and CEO Mike Mangano described the facility as a critical component of the company’s long-term strategy to deliver medical technology to a worldwide market. The development, supported by COR Development and Coil Construction, is projected to bring high-tech employment opportunities to the mid-Missouri region. Once operational, the site will function as the cornerstone of the company’s global supply chain for its yttrium-90 radioembolization therapy.
