Executive Shuffles at Burberry and KFC Signal Tech-First Retail Shifts

A dual wave of leadership changes is reshaping the digital landscape for major UK brands, as Burberry recruits former Superdry technology chief Dafydd Moore while KFC UK & Ireland installs long-time Burberry executive Jon-Paul Brett to spearhead its own digital and artificial intelligence transformation.

Dafydd Moore steps into the role of Vice President of Business Technology at Burberry, marking a transition from his previous tenure as Global Technology Director at Superdry. Moore, whose career includes roles at Dyson, Halfords, and Waitrose, credited his time at Superdry with providing the collaborative experience necessary to pivot toward luxury retail. His appointment comes as Burberry seeks to stabilize its executive ranks.

Simultaneously, KFC UK & Ireland has appointed Jon-Paul Brett as Chief Digital & Technology Officer. Brett departs Burberry after a decade-long career, most recently serving as their Global Digital Director. His new mandate centers on scaling AI integration across the fast-food chain’s restaurant network. With 70% of KFC transactions now occurring digitally, the company is prioritizing the deployment of kiosks and automated drive-thrus to streamline operations. Brett has spent his initial weeks in the role visiting franchise partners and restaurant teams to ensure that new technology directly supports, rather than complicates, the in-store experience.
