Arvind Krishna, IBM’s chairman and chief executive officer, emphasized that Baker’s experience in strategy and leadership will support the company’s long-term objectives. Baker currently oversees investment strategies at Siris, a firm that has deployed over $9 billion into telecommunications and data-centric companies since its inception. His role at Siris involves guiding established technology firms through complex digital shifts and mission-critical service transitions.
Before his tenure at Siris, Baker held a managing director position at Ripplewood Holdings and began his career in mergers and acquisitions at Goldman Sachs. Beyond his financial career, he serves as a trustee for the University of Chicago and Deerfield Academy, and leads the board of the Robert & Ethel Kennedy Human Rights Center. A native of the Detroit area, Baker holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and an undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Chicago.
