CareSource Appoints Stephanie Williams as Chief Financial Officer

After six years of service, Larry Smart is stepping down as CFO of the Dayton-based nonprofit managed care organization CareSource. Stephanie Williams, who has served as the company's chief actuary since 2021, will immediately assume the role to oversee the firm’s financial strategy and long-term investment goals.

Williams brings extensive experience in health plan operations and actuarial strategy to her new position. Before her tenure at CareSource, she held leadership roles at Centene Corporation and WellCare Health Plans. Her background includes managing financial planning across 12 states and directing rate strategies for Medicare, Medicaid, and Marketplace products.

CEO Erhardt Preitauer noted that Williams’s financial discipline will be instrumental in maintaining the organization’s stability as it continues to serve over two million members. The company is also promoting Rylan Austin to fill the vacancy left by Williams. Austin, who joined the organization in 2022, will now lead the actuarial department, focusing on risk strategy and regulatory analysis. Williams remains a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries, ensuring the leadership team maintains a high level of technical oversight.
