Ask This Old House Marks 25 Years of Home Improvement

After completing over 1,000 house calls across every state and two countries, the Emmy-winning series Ask This Old House is launching its 25th anniversary season on October 1. The program debuts with a new digital focus, pairing its traditional hands-on expertise with an AI-powered resource for modern homeowners.

Since its inception, the show has evolved from a niche repair series into a national institution, bridging the gap between professional craftsmanship and amateur capability. The upcoming season maintains the core crew, including general contractor Tom Silva, who has been a fixture since the series began. To mark the silver anniversary—affectionately dubbed the "Silva anniversary" by the production team—the show will feature retrospective specials highlighting classic segments like the "Best of the Boston Accent."

Beyond the broadcast, the series is expanding its technical reach with the introduction of Ask This Old House Plus. This AI-driven tool allows users to query decades of show archives, videos, and expert advice to receive tailored project guidance. Executive producer Sarah Chasse notes that while the show’s filming style and digital delivery have modernized, the fundamental mission remains unchanged: meeting homeowners at their skill level. With two new Daytime Emmy nominations under its belt, the production continues to balance its heritage with contemporary demands for instant, reliable home improvement data.
