Boluda Shipping Overhauls Terminal Logistics with TMEIC Digital Gates

Rising truck volumes and limited terminal space are forcing a shift in port management, prompting Boluda Maritime Terminals to adopt the Pulse Mobile digital platform. By moving check-in processes upstream, the company aims to resolve 80% of gate issues before vehicles arrive, significantly smoothing terminal traffic in Tenerife.

The implementation at Boluda’s Tenerife location integrates TMEIC’s software into existing infrastructure without requiring a total replacement of current terminal operating systems. By shifting administrative tasks away from the gate, the platform enables real-time connectivity between the terminal, carriers, and drivers. This transition allows for pre-arrival validation and exception management, which directly addresses the congestion and idling times that plague modern maritime hubs.

Historical data suggests this model provides substantial operational benefits. Beyond reducing gate cycle times, the system minimizes the need for physical hardware like kiosks and printers, potentially cutting maintenance costs by 60%. Furthermore, moving clerks away from heavy machinery and exhaust zones improves workplace safety. Gonzalo Calero Gómez, CEO of Boluda Maritime Terminals, noted that the partnership is a strategic move to manage the industry's shifting landscape through technology that prioritizes connectivity and efficiency. Francisco Grau, Managing Director of TMEIC Port Technologies, added that the project aligns with a broader vision to transition toward data-driven, sustainable port operations.
