The partnership leverages UNIT’s Networked Physical AI Platform to bridge operations that were previously siloed. Unlike traditional warehouse robotics confined to specific sites, this system orchestrates logistics across multiple locations, optimizing inventory placement and responsiveness to fluctuating demand. The platform will manage distributed fulfillment and decentralized returns processing, allowing for a more cohesive response to the pressures of modern e-commerce.
Tim Barrett, CEO of Barrett Distribution Centers, noted that the structural realignment of supply chains is necessary to keep pace with industry growth. By deploying this technology, the firm expects to improve capacity utilization and service levels without the traditional capital burdens of warehouse automation. UNIT AI provides the software via a Warehouse-as-a-Service model, which bypasses the long implementation timelines and high upfront costs that often hinder technology adoption in the logistics sector. Avihou Barkay, co-founder of UNIT AI, emphasized that connecting facilities allows for smarter orchestration near points of consumption, effectively turning individual warehouses into nodes within a single, responsive network.
