The grant aims to broaden access to field trips, classroom instruction, and teacher workshops, as well as outreach facilitated by the Yolo Basin Foundation’s Mobile Visitor Center. By connecting students directly with the natural world, the program seeks to foster a deeper understanding of water resources and environmental stewardship.
Efraim Lopez, Executive Director of the Yolo Basin Foundation, noted that the investment directly expands their ability to provide interactive learning experiences. Sarah Leeper, President of California American Water, emphasized that the partnership bridges the gap between traditional classroom curriculum and the practical role conservation plays in protecting regional communities. The funding is part of the broader 'Keep Communities Flowing' initiative, which prioritizes water, people, and community development across the country.
