PetSmart Expands Halloween Programming to Include Live Reptile Exhibits

Snakes, spiders, and death-feigning beetles are taking center stage at PetSmart this October as the retailer expands its holiday programming. Beyond the traditional pet-focused trick-or-treating, the company is launching a new educational experience designed to demystify exotic animals for families visiting stores across North America.

The "Meet the Spooky Pets" event, scheduled for October 18, invites customers to interact with specialty animals while receiving care guidance from store associates. This initiative complements the return of the "Tricks for Treats" days on October 17 and 25, where pet parents can bring costumed companions to stores for photo opportunities and complimentary snacks. The first 50 attendees at these sessions will receive branded tote bags, provided supplies last.

Bradley Breuer, senior vice president of marketing at PetSmart, noted that the expanded programming aims to serve both longtime pet owners and those who are "crawler-curious" about invertebrates and reptiles. To further engage the community, the retailer is hosting a social media photo contest through October 26. Participants tagging their entries with #PetSmartHalloweenContest can compete for rewards totaling $500 in store credit per category for the best pet costumes and scenes.
