The collaboration integrates Outrider’s self-driving yard trucks directly into the YMX Autonomous Yard Operating System. By combining YMX’s service infrastructure with Outrider’s physical AI, the companies intend to lower the capital requirements and technical complexity that often hinder the adoption of autonomous logistics tools. YMX will manage the financing, on-site operations, and implementation, while Outrider provides technical support and remote monitoring.
This initiative targets major sectors including automotive, retail, and food and beverage. The system automates critical tasks such as hitching, unhitching, and positioning trailers at dock doors, while also monitoring EV charging status. Safety remains a central focus, as the platform is designed to operate in mixed-traffic environments alongside human workers. According to Outrider CEO Andrew Smith, the model is designed for large shippers who require advanced automation but lack the dedicated resources to deploy such technology independently. The system’s safety protocols have already received recognition from TÜV SÜD for alignment with autonomous vehicle conformity standards.
