Medline Campaign Targets Surgical Efficiency to Combat Nurse Burnout

Surgical teams often lose precious minutes to the logistical grind of unpacking individual instruments, a process that compounds stress in high-stakes operating theatres. Medline EMEA is now launching its "10 Minutes That Matter" initiative, aimed at reclaiming this lost time through the use of customized, all-in-one sterile procedure trays.

The campaign centers on a simple premise: reducing the physical clutter and repetitive manual labor required to prepare for surgeries allows staff to pivot their focus back to patient care. Research indicates that custom surgical trays can trim over 10 minutes from pre-procedural setup, a window that directly impacts the mental well-being of nurses who otherwise face mounting workloads and burnout.

"Small efficiencies can easily be reduced to numbers, but those minutes have real value," said Michela Toffali, Director of Marketing & Communications at Medline EMEA. The company's Sterile Procedure Trays (SPTs) consolidate necessary components into single, customized packs, minimizing the time spent managing packaging waste and individual item logistics. Since 2011, Medline has deployed more than 120 million of these trays across the EMEA region. Hervé Million, President of Medline EMEA, emphasized that the objective is to move beyond efficiency metrics and prioritize the human element of clinical work, ensuring professionals can dedicate their expertise to the procedure at hand rather than supply chain management.
