Renew Biotechnologies and Mayo Clinic Partner on MS Diagnostic Tool

Renew Biotechnologies is partnering with Mayo Clinic to test NeuroLens, a cell-free DNA platform designed to monitor central nervous system injury. The collaboration aims to identify specific molecular signatures linked to cell death in multiple sclerosis patients, potentially creating a minimally invasive method to track disease progression and treatment response.

The research expands Renew’s diagnostic scope beyond previous work in Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and ALS. By analyzing cfDNA signatures from neurons, astrocytes, and oligodendroglial cells, the team intends to map how cellular damage correlates with clinical phenotypes and severity. Mayo Clinic will provide access to extensive biorepository resources and clinical expertise, which are essential for validating how molecular signals align with patient outcomes.

Chad Pollard, CEO of Renew Biotechnologies, noted that the complexity of neurological diseases demands a combination of advanced molecular tools and deep clinical context. Initial efforts will center on multiple sclerosis, with investigators tracking relapse activity and disability markers over time. The ultimate objective is to refine diagnostic accuracy, moving toward a framework where individualized care is driven by precise molecular data rather than traditional symptomatic observation.
