Meijer Expands Michigan Footprint With New Plymouth Township Supercenter

Store Director Daniel Austad greeted the inaugural crowd with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, signaling the start of operations at the new site near the intersection of Beck and Five Mile roads. Beyond standard retail offerings, the location features the company’s mPerks reward system, Shop & Scan technology, and integrated home delivery services. Customers will find exclusive store brands, including the premium Frederik’s by Meijer line and the health-focused True Goodness label, designed to offer high-quality alternatives to national brands.

The retailer marked the opening by distributing $30,000 in grants to three local organizations: First Step, the Miracle League of Plymouth, and the Plymouth-Canton Educational Foundation. Executive Chairman Hank Meijer emphasized that the company’s longevity, spanning over 90 years, remains rooted in the mission of providing value-driven, one-stop shopping. As part of its regional commitment, the store has also partnered with the Trinity Church Food Pantry for its ongoing Simply Give program, which runs through December 26.

Accessibility remains a core component of the new facility's design. The store includes height-adjustable changing tables in family restrooms and provides free access to Aira, a navigation service for blind and low-vision shoppers. This expansion continues Meijer’s broader strategy of reinvesting in Midwest communities, where the company maintains a policy of donating at least 6 percent of its annual net profit to local initiatives.
