The A-Series utilizes precision thin-film technology on a ceramic substrate to maintain signal integrity across temperature and environmental extremes. Measuring just 0.080 by 0.065 inches, the components are engineered to fit into space-constrained assemblies such as phased-array antennas, radar systems, and satellite communication hardware. By offering pin compatibility with existing industry-standard chip attenuators, Knowles intends to simplify the upgrade path for engineers seeking to boost power handling without requiring extensive PCB redesigns.

Robert Wagner, Vice President of RF and Microwave Products at Knowles, noted that the line addresses a specific gap in the market by combining broadband performance with an MSL 1 rating and high ESD robustness. The units support power handling up to 6.5 W CW at 100°C and operate within a range of -55°C to +125°C. Beyond standard attenuation values from 0 dB to 20 dB, the company is offering custom configurations to meet specialized design requirements, signaling a move to position itself as a comprehensive source for integrated RF signal chain components.
