CAZ Strategic Opportunities Fund Breaks $900 Million Milestone

With over $900 million in assets, the Houston-based CAZ Strategic Opportunities Fund is signaling a shift in how wealth managers access private markets. The milestone arrives as the firm’s interval fund structure gains traction, allowing advisors to integrate private equity exposure into standard retirement and portfolio models with greater ease.

Since its conversion to an interval fund structure, the vehicle has drawn significant interest from the wealth management community. Christopher Zook, Chairman and CIO of CAZ Investments, noted that the rapid growth validates the demand for streamlined access to diversified private market assets. The fund, which launched on March 1, 2024, reported an annualized return of 17.56% net of fees, bolstered by a 21.30% return over the 12 months ending August 31, 2026.

Accessibility remains a primary driver of this momentum. By lowering minimum investments to $2,500 and utilizing standard custodial platforms like Schwab, Fidelity, and Pershing, CAZ has stripped away much of the administrative friction typically associated with private equity. The fund avoids performance fees, opting for a management fee structure and 1099 tax reporting, which simplifies the integration for financial advisors building client portfolios. Despite the growth, the firm maintains that the fund remains a closed-end interval vehicle with limited liquidity, requiring investors to account for quarterly repurchase cycles and the inherent risks of private market volatility.
