Velo Palmetto Joins Team In Training in Strategic Fundraising Expansion

The four-day cycling event, scheduled for October 22-25, will guide participants through the scenic foothills of Greenville, South Carolina. By integrating Velo Palmetto into the Team In Training (TNT) ecosystem, Blood Cancer United aims to unify its diverse athletic initiatives under one brand, mirroring the recent rebranding of the organization itself. Other signature events, including Climb2Cure and the Scenic Shore Bike Tour, are expected to follow this transition.

Coker Powell, EVP and Chief Revenue Officer at Blood Cancer United, noted that the move is designed to aggregate the organization’s fundraising power to meet a specific target: providing patients with one million additional years of life by 2040. Among the riders this year is the organization’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Gwen Nichols, who will participate alongside donors to emphasize the clinical urgency behind the fundraising. Since its inception in 1949, the nonprofit has invested over $2 billion into research, and this structural shift is intended to ensure those resources continue to grow through a more connected, mission-driven community.
