Phantom Neuro Partners with Amputee Coalition to Advance Prosthetic Tech

The collaboration integrates the Austin-based neurotech firm into a network dedicated to providing education, peer support, and policy advocacy for the limb-loss community. For the Amputee Coalition, led by CEO Dr. Carmen Elliott, the partnership serves to keep technological innovation grounded in the actual needs of patients. Phantom Neuro, which grew out of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, is currently developing the Phantom X, a muscle-machine interface designed to interpret electrical signals for intuitive control of robotic systems.

Connor Glass, founder and CEO of Phantom Neuro, emphasized that technical progress must remain tethered to the community it serves. Research conducted with Avalere Health highlights the scale of this demographic, identifying approximately 2.3 million people with limb loss and 3.4 million with limb difference in the U.S. alone. By joining forces, both organizations seek to address persistent barriers to mobility, insurance coverage, and long-term care that continue to face this diverse and growing population.
