Göttingen University Hospital Adopts Synthetic Data Platform

The implementation allows authorized staff to analyze longitudinal clinical information independently, bypassing the need for constant central IT intervention. Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Brück, Chairman of the Executive Board at UMG, noted that the move is intended to improve both medical quality and economic efficiency by making the hospital's data infrastructure more accessible for internal research and the refinement of treatment pathways.

A central feature of the adoption is the use of synthetic datasets. These records mirror the statistical properties of real patient data without exposing actual sensitive medical files. This capability enables the university to test AI applications and collaborate with external scientific partners while maintaining rigorous data protection standards. The initiative builds upon the existing UMG-MeDIC infrastructure established under the nationwide Medical Informatics Initiative, aiming to maximize the long-term utility of the hospital's digital resources.
