The new light bars feature 12 independent IC chips—six per unit—allowing users to create layered gradients rather than relying on uniform color displays. Beyond the 16 million color options and 26 preset lighting effects, the devices include a built-in microphone that enables six music-reactive modes. For professional environments, the bars offer adjustable color temperatures ranging from 2200K to 6500K and a maximum output of 800 lumens, providing functional white light to reduce eye strain during extended screen time.

SwitchBot has focused on installation versatility, incorporating magnets into the chassis for attachment to metal desk frames, cabinets, or monitor mounts. The units can be oriented vertically or horizontally or secured via adhesive backing. A notable software feature is the API integration, which allows the lights to serve as visual status indicators for AI agents; users can configure specific color cues or breathing effects to monitor task progress without checking a screen.

The hardware supports native Matter over Wi-Fi, eliminating the need for a proprietary hub to connect with Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings, and Home Assistant.
