Kansas City’s West Bottoms Transforms for Halloween Season

Spanning 13 blocks of repurposed warehouses, the district invites treasure hunters to browse antiques and seasonal décor during the Festival of the Full Moon. The daytime schedule includes trick-or-treating at participating storefronts, s'mores by communal fire pits, and street music. On Saturday, visitors can join free dance sessions led by D3 Stepper to master the choreography for Michael Jackson’s "Thriller."

As daylight fades on Friday, October 2, the atmosphere shifts toward the macabre. Amber Arnett-Bequeaith, known as the district’s "Queen of Haunts," describes the transition as a move from vintage finds to vampires. With only 13 nights scheduled for the Beast and Edge of Hell this year, the attractions anchor a season that draws thousands to the area. Beyond the scares, the weekend features a specialized plant sale on October 3 and various dining options, including Chef J’s Barbecue and the Full Moon Street Bar, ensuring the district remains a central hub for Kansas City’s autumn traditions.
