Before the weather intervention, the Massachusetts Attorney General’s office had already intervened to ensure fans could secure refunds after significant lineup changes sparked nearly 200 consumer complaints. Ticketmaster has since confirmed that all ticket holders for the September 25 and 26 shows will receive automatic refunds.
Controversy began when Macklemore was dropped from the tour following pro-Palestine remarks made during a New Jersey performance. While Macklemore alleged that Robert Kraft pressured the tour to remove him, Sheeran maintained that the decision originated with the Messina Touring Group. The fallout saw several other opening acts and Sheeran’s longtime backing band, Beoga, withdraw from the tour. Sheeran eventually broke his silence on the matter during a Philadelphia performance, characterizing the situation as a complex humanitarian crisis and distancing himself from the decision to silence his former guest.
