Race founder Lazaro Alvarez, who launched the inaugural marathon in 2012, has scaled the local event into a regional draw that attracted participants from 48 states and 16 countries last season. By prioritizing high-end production, VIP hospitality, and complimentary photography, the series aims to compete with major metropolitan races while maintaining a community-focused atmosphere. The schedule includes the Irving Turkey Trot in November, the Boston-qualifying Irving Frost Marathon in December, the Love on the Run Half Marathon in February, the 15th Annual Irving Marathon in March, and the Fiesta de Mayo Half Marathon in May.
Lori Sirmen, communications manager for Visit Irving, noted that the series provides runners with professional-grade race experiences, such as USATF-certified courses, while avoiding common hurdles like shuttle lines or overcrowded corrals. Because the start and finish lines are situated at the Toyota Music Factory in Las Colinas, runners can stay at nearby hotels and walk to the event. The initiative continues to support the Irving Schools Foundation, reinforcing the connection between the races and local community development.
