The partnership was born from the realization that the two actors, who spent seven years working in close proximity, deeply missed their regular interactions after the series wrapped in 2013. During a launch event for their brand in West Hollywood, Cranston noted that the disconnect felt immediate, prompting their decision to reconnect. Their business idea, however, faced initial skepticism. When Cranston first proposed a mezcal company, Paul was hesitant, recalling a negative experience with the spirit in his youth. Cranston admitted he shared that sentiment, having encountered poor-quality mezcal at age 19. Paul eventually changed his mind by introducing him to the authentic culture of the spirit in Oaxaca.
For the duo, Dos Hombres is not a necessity but a pursuit of interest. Cranston emphasized that neither actor needed additional work, choosing instead to build a project they felt genuinely passionate about. This year, the brand expanded its reach at Las Vegas’ OMNIA Dayclub, unveiling new tequila releases, including a Blanco and a barrel-aged Reposado. Beyond their business, the pair maintains a strong personal bond that former co-star Charles Baker, who played Skinny Pete, described as part of a larger culture of mentorship on the Breaking Bad set. Baker noted that Cranston acted as a father figure to the cast, balancing his professional duties with a supportive and humorous presence that defined the show’s environment.
