Tesco launches virtual clothing try-on pilot at Sandhurst store

Tesco has debuted a virtual try-on experience at its Sandhurst Extra location, marking the supermarket's first foray into digital fitting room technology. Developed in partnership with AIUTA, the system allows shoppers to visualize approximately 1,500 F&F apparel items on themselves or digital avatars before making a purchase.

The initiative serves as a cornerstone of a broader aesthetic and operational overhaul at the Sandhurst branch. Beyond the interactive screens, Tesco has redesigned the clothing department with updated lighting and signage to better showcase its F&F collections across menswear, womenswear, and childrenswear. The retailer has also introduced a dedicated service hub designed to streamline the checkout process and facilitate easier returns.

By integrating this technology, Tesco aims to reduce purchase hesitation, helping customers experiment with new styles in a low-pressure environment. The trial reflects a growing industry trend toward blending digital convenience with the physical retail experience, a theme expected to dominate discussions at the upcoming 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards.
