BAND Integrates With Docker to Secure Multi-Agent Workflows

As AI systems evolve from simple chatbots into autonomous teams, the challenge of executing code safely while maintaining cross-agent communication has intensified. BAND is addressing this shift by integrating its collaboration platform with Docker Sandboxes, allowing developers to run coding agents within isolated, governed microVM environments.

The new BAND Python Kit for Docker Sandboxes connects locally running agents to the broader BAND infrastructure with a single command. By utilizing outbound WebSocket connections, agents within a sandbox can participate in shared rooms, access message histories, and leverage @mention-based routing. This architecture ensures that while agents communicate as a unified team, they remain contained within microVMs that provide their own kernel, filesystem, and network controls.

Arick Goomanovsky, CEO of BAND, notes that the integration reflects a future where AI agents are distributed across local and cloud environments, each requiring tailored access to specific tools and data. The security model relies on a deny-by-default network policy, with credential management handled via a host-side proxy rather than exposing secrets directly to the agent. Eli Aleyner, VP of Strategy at Docker, Inc., adds that this approach provides the necessary runtime isolation and governance for developers to build complex, multi-agent systems with the same portability they expect from traditional application development. The BAND Python SDK is currently available for teams looking to orchestrate hosted and local agents in tandem.
