Her nephew and former security chief, Bryan Seaver, was also permitted to visit the day before she died. Parton entrusted him with the responsibility of announcing her passing, a task he completed by recording a message at her studio that was shared on August 25. Her sister, Stella, later clarified on CBS Mornings that Parton’s decision to keep her cancer battle private was rooted in a desire to shield fans and relatives from worry. "Dolly could not bear negative things," Stella noted, adding that many family members remained unaware of the diagnosis until the end.

Beyond the private arrangements, Parton’s influence persists through posthumous projects. Her recording of "Bound to Ride," captured in 2022, was recently released on the tribute album "Where the Soul Never Dies." Meanwhile, the singer’s estate faces internal friction; Seaver recently spoke out against his dismissal as head of security for the singer’s properties.
