Compass Datacenters funds long-awaited shade for El Mirage YMCA court

The $110,500 project addresses a top priority for residents, who ranked shade as their most-demanded park amenity in the City’s 2025 master plan survey. By shielding the 98-by-60-foot surface, the structure allows the Northwest Valley Family YMCA to host preschool activities, youth sports, and community gatherings throughout the day, rather than forcing programs into the evening hours to avoid extreme temperatures.

Construction of the canopy, managed by vendor Shade N' Net, is scheduled to wrap up by the end of 2026. For branch executive Mary Davis, the investment restores the facility’s largest outdoor asset, which had remained largely vacant during peak heat months for years. The initiative aligns with Compass Datacenters’ "100-year neighbor" philosophy, a commitment to long-term community engagement that the company intends to maintain as it develops its local campus.
