Press Freedom Advocates Demand David Ellison Confront Trump Over Media Ban

Seth Stern, chief of advocacy at the Freedom of the Press Foundation, warned that Ellison’s past record of compromising newsroom autonomy and his social ties to the president’s circle have severely eroded trust. The letter bluntly states that failing to act will render his claims regarding press freedom hollow. As the merger moves forward following a deal with state attorneys general, the industry is watching to see if Ellison will prioritize his duty to his future employees or remain aligned with the political interests surrounding the White House.
