Carrot Top Faces Extortion Allegations Amid Hospitalization

Comedian Scott Thompson, widely known as Carrot Top, finds himself at the center of a tense legal standoff after his attorneys accused singer Brian Evans of demanding $500,000 under the threat of releasing sexually explicit material. The dispute surfaced just as the performer began recovering from an undisclosed hospitalization in Las Vegas.

In a September 3 filing in Broward County, Florida, attorney Ronnie Bitman alleged that Evans attempted to leverage private recordings to secure a payout. The filing cited an email in which Evans discussed submitting a USB drive containing sensitive material to a public court docket, suggesting that media outlets would inevitably speculate on its contents. Thompson’s legal team characterized the communication as a malicious effort to extort money, rather than a legitimate settlement discussion.

Evans, who is representing himself, denied the accusations, asserting that he merely outlined the foreseeable consequences of filing evidence in a public legal forum. He maintains that he holds no control over press coverage or the court docket itself. The situation remains unresolved, complicated by a separate federal court ruling that recently labeled Evans a vexatious litigant, citing a pattern of frivolous filings in the Southern District of Florida. Meanwhile, Thompson’s representative, Jami Schlicher, confirmed the comedian is receiving care and surrounded by family, while Luxor officials canceled his scheduled weekend performances.
