The Saturday Night Live alum, who shares his daughter with former partner Elsie Hewitt, admits that the responsibility of being a parent initially brought a sense of uncertainty. Speaking with Charlamagne tha God for Interview Magazine, Davidson revealed a newfound determination to stay grounded. He views his daughter as a blessing and a primary motivation to refine his lifestyle, noting that every choice is now filtered through the lens of her well-being.
Naming his daughter Scottie was a deliberate tribute to his father, Scott, a New York City firefighter who died during the September 11 terror attacks. As the 25th anniversary of the tragedy approaches, Davidson finds himself at a poignant intersection: he is now the same age his father was when he passed. While he has not yet determined how he will eventually explain his father’s death to Scottie, he finds comfort in the fact that he has time to navigate that conversation. Beyond his personal life, Davidson continues to honor his father’s legacy by supporting 9/11 first responders, recently co-hosting a comedy benefit at Madison Square Garden to raise funds for those affected by the attacks.
