ASTHO Restructures Leadership Team with Three Key Appointments

The Association of State and Territorial Health Officials has announced a major shift in its executive ranks, promoting Lindsey Myers and Jeffrey Ekoma while appointing Jane Bigham to a senior role. These changes aim to bolster the organization's influence on federal policy and national public health infrastructure.

Lindsey Myers steps into the role of Senior Vice President for Leadership, Infrastructure and Transformation. Previously serving as vice president for public health workforce and infrastructure, Myers managed the Public Health Infrastructure Grant technical assistance program. Her career includes 13 years with the Colorado Department of Public Health and a tenure as a Peace Corps volunteer in Kyrgyzstan.

Jeffrey Ekoma, now Vice President of Government Affairs, will continue leading the organization's congressional engagement and national advocacy. With over a decade of experience in federal health policy, Ekoma has been instrumental in securing funding for emergency preparedness and data modernization. He holds an MBA from Johns Hopkins University.

Jane Bigham joins the team as Senior Vice President for Government Affairs and Public Relations, bringing two decades of policy expertise. Her background includes five years with the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, & Pensions, where she helped negotiate the PREVENT Pandemics Act and the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Act. Before her time on Capitol Hill, Bigham spent nearly ten years at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention developing legislative strategies.

CEO Joseph Kanter noted that these appointments reflect a commitment to deepening the organization's advocacy reach. The new leadership team will manage the nonprofit's efforts to support state, territorial, and local health agencies across the United States.
