Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Earns National Recognition in Five Specialties

The hospital’s orthopedic department led the charge, ranking 19th nationally and second within Florida. This performance relies on multidisciplinary teams utilizing minimally invasive techniques to treat conditions from scoliosis to sports-related trauma. Complementing this, the Wasie Neonatal Intensive Care Unit—the only Level IV NICU in Broward County—solidified its position at 36th in the country, managing care for thousands of newborns annually across the Memorial network.

Additional recognition was granted in nephrology, pulmonology, and behavioral health. The hospital stands as the only provider in Broward County with an on-site pediatric dialysis center, while its lung surgery program achieved a top-50 national ranking for its work with chronic conditions like cystic fibrosis. The behavioral health division rounds out the list, utilizing an integrated model that coordinates with families and schools to treat emotional and psychological needs. These rankings, derived from clinical outcomes and peer evaluations across 119 facilities, reflect a broader push by the Memorial Healthcare System to combine specialized medical interventions with family-centered support.
