The initiative stems from a long-term study of more than 100 hectares of vineyards, which the estate harvests and vinifies in over 60 individual micro-lots. Since 2010, this granular approach has allowed the team to map how soil composition and climate influence the grape's expression. CEO Matteo Giustiniani describes the project as an attempt to showcase the range of the variety while maintaining a firm connection to the Montepulciano territory.
To represent these three dimensions, the estate has selected specific bottlings: the In Grandi Annate 2021 highlights vintage through a blend of top-performing sites, while the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Late Release 2016 explores the impact of a decade of bottle aging. The final pillar, the Poggetto di Sopra 2022, focuses on place by showcasing the output of a single vineyard defined by Pliocene clay-silt and calcareous soils. According to COO Alessio Gorini, this depth of data has fundamentally shifted their winemaking philosophy, allowing for less intervention in the cellar as the team gains a more precise understanding of how the variety behaves across different environments.
