Irvine Spectrum Center Unveils 132-Foot SunWheel

Designed by the Italy-based Fabbri Group, the structure stands 24 feet taller than its predecessor. It features 27 gondolas, each equipped with updated audio systems and programmable LED lighting arrays that span both the rim and spokes. Management noted that the ride's mechanical systems have been overhauled to improve throughput and minimize wait times for guests.

"The Spectrum SunWheel represents our commitment to providing extraordinary experiences," said Blake Windal, vice president and general manager of Irvine Spectrum Center. The center plans a ribbon-cutting ceremony for 9:45 a.m. on opening day, accompanied by live music and promotional giveaways. As part of the launch, the first 300 riders will receive complimentary admission courtesy of Hoag.

Standard tickets are priced at $10, with a $15 "Spectrum Speed Pass" available for those looking to bypass queues. Riders must be at least 12 years old or 63 inches tall to board the attraction unaccompanied. The wheel operates as part of the broader Irvine Spectrum District, which houses a variety of retail and dining tenants, including Nordstrom, Apple, and Javier’s.
