Granite Telecommunications Named Top Massachusetts Charitable Contributor

For the 18th consecutive year, Quincy-based Granite Telecommunications has secured a top-three spot on the Boston Business Journal’s annual list of charitable contributors. The company, which provided over $30 million in donations last year, was recognized alongside CEO Rob Hale, who received the publication’s 2026 CEO Social Leadership Award.

Granite’s consistent philanthropic footprint has solidified its role as a major benefactor in Massachusetts. The company’s community engagement is anchored by the Saving by Shaving initiative, which has raised $62.7 million for medical research and patient care since its inception 13 years ago. These efforts support a diverse range of causes, from veterans' services and housing security to education and food access, bolstered by employee-led volunteer programs through the Granite Gives Back initiative.

Beyond corporate initiatives, Rob Hale’s individual contributions have reached historic levels. In 2025, Hale and his wife, Karen, donated $110.9 million, including a record-breaking $100 million gift to Boston Children’s Hospital aimed at transforming pediatric behavioral health care. This follows previous high-profile efforts, such as a $26.2 million donation distributed to 72 local charities and a multi-million dollar commitment to grassroots endowments. The Boston Business Journal honored both the firm and its CEO at the 21st annual Corporate Citizenship Awards on September 16, highlighting a strategy that pairs large-scale institutional support with sustained investments in local community organizations.
