The new service, dubbed Array Rapid Care, targets a persistent gap between primary care settings and emergency departments. Frontline providers, including urgent care centers and general practitioners, often face difficulty determining the necessary level of psychiatric support for patients in distress. This ambiguity frequently forces providers to refer individuals to emergency rooms by default, even when less intensive stabilization would be more clinically effective.
Under the new model, patients referred to Array undergo a real-time assessment by a licensed clinician. This evaluation focuses on risk, acuity, and immediate needs, resulting in a direct path to psychiatric consultation, crisis stabilization, or ongoing outpatient treatment. CEO Shannon Werb noted that the program aims to eliminate the reliance on guesswork, allowing clinicians to make decisions informed by expertise rather than resource availability. By integrating this triage process, the company seeks to lower costs and reduce the administrative burden on hospital emergency staff while ensuring patients receive specialized support at the earliest possible stage.
